My name is Beatriz Facio, a Brazilian born and raised in a small southern town, surrounded by my loving family. I am a person known for being a good listener, reliable, kind, and sociable. I believe in the power of a comforting embrace for emotional support, always respecting boundaries.

My journey into the world of babies, children, and family dynamics began during my nursing graduation. It was a passion I pursued through my Nursing Residence in Child Health and further solidified with Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Health Science, focusing on improving healthcare practices, particularly in neonatal and pediatric contexts.

Life has a way of surprising us, and in late August 2021, my husband and I embarked on a new chapter by moving to Malmö. It was during this time of transition that the idea of becoming a postpartum doula began to take shape. I wondered how I could stay close to the joys that make my eyes sparkle, and since then, being a postpartum doula has become my life's purpose.

Driven by my commitment to delivering continuous care and support, from pregnancy through the postpartum period, I expanded my role by becoming a birth doula as well, in December 2023.

Caring is what I love and desire to do!

My approach to care

Women are often well-informed about everything related to pregnancy and the care of newborns and infants. However, there is a notable absence of information on how to prepare for their transformation into mothers, how to care for themselves, prioritize their needs, and plan for emotional, spiritual, and physical healing during the postpartum period.

Furthermore, the global tendency is to somewhat sideline mothers and focus primarily on babies after childbirth. This pattern is prevalent both in society and within the healthcare system, and it is no different here in Sweden.

I work to prevent mothers and parents from feeling lost, overwhelmed, and isolated. As a doula, I understand the frustration experienced by pregnant individuals, new mothers, and parents when they receive dismissive responses such as "this is normal" to their questions and concerns. I firmly believe that such answers are not only unhelpful but also leave them feeling unheard and unsupported.

My approach to care is rooted in validation and comprehensive information. I recognize that while certain experiences may be common, each person's journey is unique. That is why I go beyond simply acknowledging what is typical and strive to provide the essential details and guidance that empower parents to navigate their pregnancy and postpartum experiences with confidence and a true sense of care.  Your concerns and questions deserve the attention they need, and that is exactly what I am here to provide.

Postpartum Doula Course
Om & Wellness Baby

This specialized course provided the necessary skills and knowledge to support families during labor, birth, and the early postpartum period. Topics covered included the Doula role, physiology of birth, diverse labor techniques, hospital protocols, post-birth support, and how to establish a Doula practice. This specialized training equipped me with the expertise to offer nurturing and soothing massages to newborns, fostering their development and strengthening the bond between parents and babies.

This specialized course covered a wide range of crucial topics, equipping me with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of the postpartum period and address the unique needs of each family I have the privilege to support. 2019

Ph.D. Health Science
Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil)

I explored the impact of the formative process in developmental care on the practices of Neonatal Intensive Care Units' nurses and concluded that there is a need to expand perspectives and focus on how care is delivered, not just the actions themselves.

2015

MSc Health Science
Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil)

2014

Nursing Residency in Child Health
State University of Londrina (Brazil)

2011

Nursing bachelor’s degree
State University of Maringá  (Brazil)

I explored the influence of interactions between parents and healthcare professionals in the care of children with retinopathy of prematurity and findings underscore the need to invest in meaningful interactions for quality healthcare. However, achieving this remains an ongoing challenge.

Through my residency program, I gained invaluable practical experience in caring for children and families, developing strong communication skills and a compassionate approach.

My foundational education in nursing forms the backbone of my professional skills, providing me with a solid understanding of healthcare practices and principles.
