What does postpartum mean?

Postpartum, also known as the puerperium or the fourth trimester, is a phase with varying definitions. While some sources define it as the time between childbirth and the return of female reproductive organs to their non-pregnant state (typically around six weeks), others adhere to the tradition of 40 days after giving birth.

However, when considering the emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical aspects, the process of healing can extend well beyond these timelines. In real life, recovery time is individual, chronologically variable, and may take days, weeks, or even years.

Recognizing this diversity, I embrace a holistic approach to empower you in your new role as a mother or parent, tailored to your unique needs.

What to expect?

The first days, weeks, and months are raw, intense, and transformative.
It’s not just about the baby, it’s about you. Healing. Adjusting. Becoming.

You don’t need someone to tell you what to do.
You need someone who notices what you need before you say a word.

Whether you're navigating sore nipples, long nights, cluster feeding, growth spurts, or the emotional waves that come after birth, you're not meant to do it alone.

My care adapts to what your days and nights are truly like, helping you recover, reconnect, and move through it with more confidence and calm.

Because birth is just the beginning, and you deserve support after the arrival, too.

What you get and why it’s different

With me, you receive everything a postpartum doula usually offers and something more. I bring clinical knowledge, emotional presence, and the ability to care and teach at the same time, without overwhelming.

Each visit blends gentle guidance, practical support, and emotional grounding, so you're not only cared for but strengthened through one of life’s most tender transitions.

You’re healing, learning, and growing with someone by your side who truly sees you.

The Road to Postpartum Doula Support

01. Get acquainted

The journey begins with a simple yet essential step: scheduling a cost-free consultation with me. Whether it is an in-person meeting at a coffee place of your choice or a virtual conversation, this is the moment for us to connect. Share your expectations, unique needs and preferences, giving me the insights I need to personalize your care.

02. Get your personalized plan

If you decide to proceed with me, I will send you a letter of agreement by email. In this document, you will find important details, including the payment structure.

I recommend a session to develop your personalized postpartum plan, conducted in the comfort of your home. We will delve into preparations for the postpartum period, ensuring a peaceful transition for you, your baby, and your support network. However, if you have already attended the postpartum planning workshop for parents, it is not necessary.

03. Ongoing connection and support

I will be reachable by phone or email during the agreement period when not assisting you.

An extra prenatal visit might be required to ensure a smooth transition before the postpartum phase, in case our connection began early in your pregnancy.

04. Postpartum doula visits

After your baby is born, I will start visiting you regularly according to what we agreed upon. Your postpartum care will be entirely tailored to support your recovery.

Beatriz helped me in my postpartum journey through video calls. When I was still pregnant, she helped me preparing to the postpartum period with a plan. During the first couple of weeks I had problems with brestfeeding and she showed me how to massage gently my breast and gave a lot of useful tips about breastfeeding, but mostly calmed me and gave me confidence. Besides that we discussed about safe co-sleeping, soothing techniques for colic baby, self-care, dealing with family expectations and I could honestly share my feelings about this hard but exceptional period of my life. She was really kind, empathetic, supportive and always ready to help.
